About Ron
Ronnie Dotson served as a superintendent of Kentucky’s Carter County School System from 2011 to 2022. According to the news publication Kentucky Today, the school system went from one of the state’s worst to one of the best under his leadership. Ronnie Dotson oversaw staff hiring, student progress, managing budgets, and spurring organizational growth.
Before becoming a superintendent, Dr. Dotson served nearly fifteen years as principal of Southside Elementary in Belfry, Kentucky. He also held classroom teacher positions at South Williamson Elementary in South Williamson, Kentucky, and Blackberry Elementary in Ransom, Kentucky. At the college level, Ronnie Dotson has taught as an adjunct professor at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, and the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Dr. Dotson resides off the coast of South Carolina on Hilton Head Island, where he enjoys golfing and pickeball. Ron is an avid traveler and an active member of Hilton Head Island’s Central Church of God.
